Miss World 2024 Everything You Need to Know About The Pageant

Miss World: A Brief History and Famous Winners

Miss World is the oldest international beauty pageant still in existence. Since Morley’s passing in 2000, his wife Julia Morley has co-chaired the pageant. Miss World is the longest-running international beauty pageant. In 1951, British television presenter Eric Morley held a bikini contest as part of the Festival of Britain.

Miss Sweden, Kiki Haakonson, carried off the first Miss World title in the Lyceum Ballroom in London, in what was originally intended to be a one-off event connected with the Festival of Britain.
